Aug 18 The New Raptor Competitor

When Dodge released the new 1500 TRX I knew that this would be the new Ford Raptor competitor. It is a high-performance truck, just like the Raptor. Even though the Raptor has a special place in my heart, the new TRX may just be the best performance truck out there.

Dodge, being Dodge, they put their fabled 6.2 Liter Supercharged Hemi V8 Engine that is in all of the SRT Chargers, Challengers, and even the Durango. It’s one of the greatest V8 ever. So, for Dodge to put it into a truck, is pretty cool. It makes 702 horsepower, which is an insane number for any car, let alone a truck. It’s also 252 more horsepower than the top of the range Ford Raptor. It also has 650-pound feet of torque, which means it can pull 100 pounds more than the Raptor and can have 150 pounds more in the bed than the Raptor.

This new truck looks good, but no truck can match the Raptor in the looks department. If the TRX was a little bit wider and had bigger fenders I think it would be one of my favorite looking trucks. They are both super cool looking trucks, but I think the Ford Raptor is the better-looking truck.

Another thing that surprised me is the TRX has a 0-60 time of 4.5 seconds with a top speed of 117 miles per hour. That’s one pretty fast truck! It also had a massive 13 inches of suspension travel in the front and Bilstein adaptive shocks in the rear - these make for some very good off-road capabilities.

The new Hellcat power Ram will go on sale in the fourth quarter of 2020, and it will cost around $71,690, that’s nearly $13k more than the Raptor. There will also be a launch edition TRX that costs around $90k, it will be the crew cab variant and it will come with all of the options in a color called anvil gray. There will only be 703 (the horsepower number) made and they will be super rare when they are sold out.

The name TRX sounds a lot like a T-Rex, T-Rex’s liked to jump on Velociraptors. That’s why they called the new Performance Ram the TRX. Also, did I tell you that this project has been going on for 10 years now? We heard rumors of the new TRX concept 9 years ago. Then we got a concept car in 2016 and finally, 4 years later we have the final product. The Raptor killer.

I honestly think that this car is just better than the Raptor. It has a nicer interior, more horsepower, better suspension, and the whine of a supercharger. I’m not saying that the Ford Raptor is a bad car it’s just the 1500 TRX just has it beat. So, the new Dodge Ram 1500 Takes the crown for the best sports truck.
