My Top Five Best Car Names
Most car manufactures like to name their cars with a numerical system, some use made-up words like Camry or Corvette, but some manufactures like to make up really funny, extravagant, and just really good names. I will be going over, what I think are the top 5 best car names.
FIVE: Alfa Romeo Disco Volante: This car’s name is just really cool. Disco Volante sounds like a place that you would go to just jam out to music. In French, Disco Volante literally means Flying Saucer! Imagine you drive one of these cars to your local car meet. A guy asks “hey what’s that you are driving?” you reply “oh, it’s just my flying saucer”! Which was very fitting because this car looks out of this world, if you know what I mean.
FOUR: Toyota Mega Cruiser: The Mega Cruzer was basically a Japanese Hummer. It was big and boxy but had tons of torque from its big engine. The name was the best part about the car though, MEGA CRUISER! Not just any cruiser a MEGA CRUISER! That has to be one of the best car names ever. Also, a fun fact this car was named after the Land Cruiser.
THREE: Maserati MC12 (MC Hammer): This car was not actually called the MC Hammer it was called the MC12, but on an episode of Top Gear Jeremy Clarkson reviewed the MC12 and he said that it should be called the MC Hammer. The name has stuck ever since. Then, only a couple weeks ago, we got a new MC car the MC20, hopefully, it lives up to the older MC Hammer's standards!
TWO: Ferrari 812 Superfast: The 812 Superfast is one insane car. The name just makes it sound even better. You can say “oh yeah, I drive 812 Superfast”. Plus, if you say it in an Italian accent it sounds even better. The Superfast is also one crazy car, with nearly 800 horsepower it's possibly one of the best GT cars ever.
The Dodge Omni Shelby GLHS
ONE : Dodge Omni Shelby GLH/GLHS: Carol Shelby, an icon in car history, was a pretty cool man. He also had a great sense of humor. So, when he tuned the Dodge Omni he made a very funny name for it. The Dodge Omni Shelby “Goes Like Hell” hence the GLH. Even better he made a second version of the car and guess what he named it, the Omni Shelby “Goes Like Hell S’more” (GLHS). I just think that is one of the best names ever for a car (even if the name did not fit as it had only 117 horsepower).
These are my top five best car names, some of them are funny and some of them are just plain cool. In my opinion, a better name makes up at least 40% of how cool the car is.
