The Ford SuperVan 3

It Is a van with a big wing, and it was made for advertising for the new 1994 Transit van. It’s the Ford SuperVan 3. This is quite possibly my favorite van of all time.

This “van” (I use the term van really loosely) had a Cosworth HB F1 engine which made 650 horsepower. But, in 2004 they swapped the Cosworth V8 for a Ford-Cosworth Pro Sports 3000. This V6 made 260 horsepower. But it still made it to 150 MPH. This crazy van was also mid-engine so it was basically a supercar with a van body on the top.

This van has many features. One of which is it has a single center aligned seat! That is something only crazy supercars have. This “van” was a supercar beater. One reason this is is that it only weighs 1900 pounds, which is less than pretty much all cars on the road today.

The SuperVan 3 was made for advertising for the facelift of the Mk3 Transit Van. People loved the van it was everything they wanted, it was loud, fast, and very cool. When the Ford SuperVan 3 “retired” It went to a Goodwood in England where you can drive it. It is even still driven today.

The SuperVan 3 is the coolest “van” that we will ever see. I just find it amazing how Ford put a van body on a race car and gave it Goodyear slicks, then they called it a day. Ford did one heck of a job on this van, but we need another one. Maybe the next-gen Transit we will see the return of the SuperVan. I think Ford needs the SuperVan 4, who’s with me!
